    The 1st Critical Care Medicine - Tsinghua Forum Was Held in Tsinghua University

    On March 26, the "2021 Critical Care Medicine - Tsinghua Forum" jointly hosted by the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital Affiliated to Tsinghua University, and the Critical Care Physician Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association was held in Tsinghua University. Wang Xiqin, Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University, Zhang Zongjiu, Executive Deputy Dean of Institute for Hospital Management of Tsinghua University, Li Shuiqing, Deputy Dean of Office of Scientific R&D, Tsinghua University, Wang Yu, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, and Du Bin, Vice President of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, et al. attended the forum and delivered speeches. Qiu Haibo, Vice President of Zhongda Hospital Southeast University, Xi Xiuming, Former President of Fu Xing Hospital, Capital Medical University, Yu Kaijiang, Vice President of Harbin Medical University, Wu Ji, Deputy Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, Li Xinsheng, Vice President of Mindray Medical Group, et al. attended and gave keynote reports. The forum was co-chaired by Du Bin and Wu Ji. Xu Yuan from the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital Affiliated to Tsinghua University, Vice President of Critical Care Physician Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, served as the Director of the Organizing Committee.

    Wang Xiqin delivers a speech

    In his speech, on behalf of the University, Wang Xiqin extended his hearty welcome and sincere thanks to all the critical care experts for coming to Tsinghua University to attend the forum. He expressed that the development of the critical care medicine plays an irreplaceable role in the construction of Healthy China 2030 and the life safety of the people. Tsinghua attaches great importance to the development of medical disciplines. The University has clarified its goal of training top physicians - scientists with a high degree of humanistic feelings and regards talent training as its foundation. This forum has built a platform that integrates the critical care medicine with engineering, basic medicine and material disciplines of Tsinghua. It is hoped that all experts can pay attention to and support the development of Tsinghua's medicine, burst out more new ideas and produce more new results.

    Zhang Zongjiu emphasized in his speech that the holding of the forum is very valuable. It is necessary to give full play to the strength of the Tsinghua team, and promote the development of the industry with critical care physicians together to assist in Healthy China and enable the research results to benefit the people of the world.

    Wang Yu delivers a speech

    Wang Yu pointed at the forum that the integration of medicine and engineering is one of the important scientific research directions for the development of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. Based on the core task of educating people, it is necessary to implement scientific research projects of medicine and engineering in close contact with the clinic and promote result transformation. The mutual reinforcement of the three will play a more positive role in the development of critical care medicine.

    Du Bin delivers a speech

    Du Bin said in his speech that the importance of the integration of medicine and engineering has emerged gradually. For doctors, this is a long-term learning process. Through the collaborated research of multiple disciplines, patients will benefit ultimately.

    In the subsequent keynote report session, experts such as Qiu Haibo, Xi Xiuming, Du Bin, Yu Kaijiang, Wu Ji, Li Maokun, Liu Ling, Li Xinsheng, Feng Xue, Zhou Feihu, and Zhang Zhongheng made wonderful speeches around the relevant challenges of critical care medicine and the themes of the development opportunities of AI and big data, and the progress of bedside and wearable equipment, and so on.

    In the panel discussion session, in combination with the development status of the critical care medicine, from the perspectives of medicine and engineering respectively, with the goal of assisting medical workers to find clinical problems timely and better formulate clinical decisions to enable patients to get more accurate and high-quality clinical treatment and services, over 40 critical care experts from across the country gathered together with scholars from Tsinghua University to discuss the "connection point" of the application of AI and flexible electronics and other technologies in the critical care medicine field, seek close and pragmatic interdisciplinary collaborative research to make ICU become an indestructible "dike" of life.
