On March 23, 2025, the symposium titled "The Frontier Development of Electronic Information in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" and the 25th Alumni Forum, jointly organized by the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, the Department of Electronic Engineering Alumni Association of Tsinghua University, and the Electronic Information Professional Committee of Tsinghua Shanghai Alumni Association, was splendidly held in Yangpu District, Shanghai.

Themed "Frontier Development of Electronic Information in the Era of Artificial Intelligence," the forum invited a number of distinguished guests to deliver keynote speeches. The forum aimed to promote academic exchange, share experiences, and foster emotional connections among alumni. The event was hosted by Yanmin Qian, professor in the Department of Computer Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Changjiang Scholar, and Secretary-General of the Electronic Information Professional Committee of Tsinghua Shanghai Alumni Association.

Yanmin Qian
Jinyuan Liu, Deputy District Mayor of Yangpu District, stated in his address that Yangpu District, as a central urban area of Shanghai, is characterized by a high concentration of talent, abundant university resources, and a vibrant atmosphere for innovation. Over the years, the district has continuously focused on areas such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence, achieving notable progress in industrial development and technological innovation. Yangpu District will steadfastedly implement the "people-centered city concept" put forward by the General Secretary during his inspection of the Yangpu waterfront in 2019. Together with the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, the district will support universities and enterprises in tackling key technical challenges, cultivate new quality productive forces, strengthen the innovative development of emerging technologies and industries, and strive to build the Yang "Digital" Pu New Quality Show Belt Innovation Zone, creating a new paradigm for an innovative urban district.

Jinyuan Liu
Yu Wang, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University and President of the Department of Electronic Engineering Alumni Association of Tsinghua University, emphasized that electronic information technology is the cornerstone of AI development. The EE Departmen has been continuously strengthening the connection between fundamental research and industrial application. Since 2020, it has proposed strategic measures focusing on digitalization, socialization, and internationalization. In recent years, the department has significantly increased its research investment and steadily grown its faculty and student population. In the future, the department will deeply engage in the restructuring of AI talent cultivation, lay out cutting-edge technologies to anchor industrial upgrading, and promote cross-disciplinary integrated innovation. He also called on alumni to collaboratively explore the integrated path of "AI + Electronics," particularly strengthening regional innovation practices in Shanghai in areas such as robotics and intelligent terminals.

Wei Han, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Tsinghua Alumni Association of Shanghai, and Vice President of Tus-Holdings, shared her personal experiences and encouraged alumni to pursue development in Shanghai. In the future, the Electronic Information Special Committee of the Shanghai Alumni Association will have more frequent interactions with the Yangpu District Government, jointly building a full-chain empowerment system of "policy support – incubation space – industrial implementation," and helping the Yangtze River Delta region develop a globally influential industrial cluster for integrated circuits and artificial intelligence.

Pengfei Zhang, Chairman and CEO of Beken Corporation, recalled his own experience in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, emphasizing the spiritual heritage and industrial responsibility of Tsinghua electronic engineering alumni – not chasing market fads, but creating them; not following the tide, but leading it. He also shared the opportunities and challenges facing the integrated circuit industry, hoping that everyone will strive to achieve success and lead the way.

Bowen Zhou, Director and Chief Scientist of the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and Huiyan Chair Professor at Tsinghua University, pointed out that global AI frontiers are accelerating iteration with strong innovation momentum, and that there is no time to lose in exploring the future path toward artificial general intelligence (AGI). He sincerely invited Tsinghua alumni to work closely with the laboratory, jointly target the cutting edge of AI innovation, engage in hardcore innovation and standard-setting with the spirit that "action speaks louder than words," and, through deeply coupled mechanisms such as technology transfer, scenario opening, and capital empowerment, collectively build an "AI+" innovation ecosystem.

Bowen Zhou
Qiwei Ren, Executive Vice President of Unigroup, CEO of Unisoc, and Director of the Electronic Information Special Committee of the Tsinghua Shanghai Alumni Association, stated in the 2024 Annual Work Report of the Committee that since its establishment in March 2024, the committee has hosted nearly 20 events, with a total of nearly 1,200 alumni and department alumni participating in person, and over 100,000 alumni engaging and showing support online. In the next two years, the committee plans to continue building a comprehensive electronic information alumni ecosystem from multiple dimensions including personnel, regions, and professional fields, while expanding new types of activities such as career planning and team building, and establishing a full-chain "Electronic Information+" ecosystem. At the same time, the committee will coordinate with Tsinghua's global presence to strengthen industry-education integration in the fields of chips, AI, and new energy, and to directionally incubate "new quality productive forces."

The forum adopted a "1+2" format, consisting of one main forum and two parallel forums. In the morning, the main forum featured invited keynote speeches from distinguished alumni representing both academia and industry, including Lifeng Wu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Empyrean; Ning Ge, Professor from the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University; Taiyi Cheng, CEO of SemiDrive; Minlie Huang, tenured Professor from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of the Tsinghua University Basic Model Center, and founder of Lingxin Intelligence; Maokun Li, Associate Head of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University and IEEE Fellow; Maoqing Yao, Partner and Head of the Embodied Business Division at Agibot; and Guohao Dai, Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and co-founder of Infinite Intelligence. The speakers shared their experiences and insights in the fields of electronic information and artificial intelligence, presented the latest technological development directions, and outlined an innovative vision of the integration of electronic information and AI.

In the afternoon, two distinctive parallel forums were arranged in the forms of a roundtable forum, project roadshow, and closed-door symposium. Parallel Forum I – "Foreseeing the Future: Tsinghua Electronic Engineering Tech Roadshow No. 038 & Chuangqinghui · X Series Roadshow – AI Application Special" – the roundtable session was hosted by Yu Sang, Partner of Yunqi Partners. Panelists included Lan Huang, Deputy General Manager of CICC Capital, Junzhang Liang, Founding Partner of Kinzon Capital, Wei Wang,Managing Director of TusStar Shanghai Fund, and Han Zhang, Partner of Sequoia China, who discussed AI technologies and industry development trends.

Subsequently, seven technology startups participated in the roadshow session, hosted by Yikang Li from FFT Investment. The seven projects – Pimchip, Qingbei Intelligent, Articares, LOHAS, Neolix, Xunfeiyan, and Huaxia Digital Technology – presented their project background, industry trends, technological and product advantages, industrial implementation, and collaboration needs. The roadshow invited dozens of investment institutions, which gained an in-depth understanding of the projects' core technologies, market size, financing needs, etc., provided suggestions for project development, and discussed further cooperation.

Parallel Forum II – "Working Meeting of the Electronic Information Professional Committee of Tsinghua Shanghai Alumni Association" – discussed the special committee's activity formats for the next two years, ways to involve more department alumni, participation in the department's discipline construction and talent cultivation, and promotion of alumni cooperation and industrial innovation.

In addition, the forum screened interview videos of alumni from the Department of Electronic Engineering in the Yangtze River Delta. The alumni shared their academic journeys in the department, as well as their gratitude to Tsinghua and expectations for their junior fellow students.
The Tsinghua University Department of Electronic Engineering Alumni Forum is an academic gathering that brings together academia, industry, and alumni. It serves as a communication platform where enterprises from various fields present outstanding reports. The forward-looking and diverse themes of the forum, together with the increasing number of participants year after year, have effectively promoted mutual understanding among industry, academia, and research, shortened the gap between educational theory and practice, enhanced exchanges between technology and capital, and injected momentum into industrial development. Since its first event in 2014, the Alumni Forum has been successfully held 25 times, becoming a platform for exploring academic frontiers and research hotspots, as well as an important bridge connecting electronic engineering alumni with Tsinghua.
