From April 12 to 13, the 2019 Ideology and Politics and Student Training Seminar of the Department of Electronic Engineering were held in the suburb of Beijing. 89 people including Huang Yidong, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary and other leaders of the Department, secretaries and directors of all institutes, head teachers, course teachers, teachers from the Teaching Affairs Office, undergraduate counselors, postgraduate moral education assistants and student backbones, attended the Seminar. At the seminar, deep learning and discussion were carried out on the theme of "Construction of Study Style under the Guidance of Ideology and Politics". Wang Xiqin, Executive Vice President, He Jianyu, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the School of Marxism, E Yanxiong, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee, and other leaders were invited to attend the Seminar.

The seminar was chaired by Wu Ji, Deputy Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Wang Yu, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the Department. Titled "Comprehensively promote the construction of the talent cultivation system of the Department of Electronic Engineering", Wu Ji's report describes the talent cultivation system of the Department of Electronic Engineering from three parts, namely undergraduate, master and doctoral students and discusses the current progress, existing problems and construction ideas from many aspects including curriculum system, undergraduate class, master program, quality of doctoral students and global competence development.

Shen Yuan, leader of the Student Working Group, introduced the achievements and shortcomings in the cultivation of undergraduate students in 2018, focused on reporting a series of survey data of undergraduates' style of study, deeply analyzed new situations on students' learning attitude, styles and methods and proposed related measures for the construction of study style in 2019. On the other hand, aimed at the recent online public opinion incidents of our students, he reported the overall process and processing results of incidents, analyzed the characteristics and effect of public opinions in universities, and offered some thoughts on information disclosure and public opinion guidance measures in the development of online public opinions.

Then Li Maokun, leader of the Postgraduate Working Group, reported the work of the Postgraduate Working Group and the achievements made in the past year, emphatically analyzed the difficulties encountered in the training plan of the innovation and entrepreneurship master's programs, and meanwhile gave some future work proposals for party building, employment, and academic field. In the next work, the Postgraduate Working Group will keep trying to serve the students, and the work of the department and the school, and be as a bridge between the department and the students. In the specific work, the Postgraduate Working Group will work with all branches to improve the quality of the party branch's "three meetings and one lesson", promote party building, sort out department-level practice bases, provide students with high-quality practice resources, pay more attention to graduate students and solve the actual concerns and difficulties of classmates.

Mr. Zhou Shidong, as a director of Wireless Grade 6 and representative of the head teachers of the undergraduate class, introduced the situation of Wireless Grade 6 and discussed the students' study style problems. Both teachers and students are recommended to shift the "learned" content from the current curriculum knowledge learning currently needing special concern to the cultivation, training and evaluation of the whole process from input to output at multiple levels including learning, knowledge, accomplishment, ability, and contribution. It is recommended to further strengthen individualization, cultivate active learning, independent learning, and demand-driven learning abilities, and acquire the basic abilities of practice, scientific research and innovation as soon as possible, so the curriculum system needs to be further arranged and adjusted: Further compress the basic core contents that must be learned (rather than the number of courses, and the compressed contents are as the elective course for upper grade students), and the time of required professional core courses should be advanced early (reduce the dependence on prerequisite courses and the basic content is self-contained).

Luo Yi, as a tutor representative, made a speech on the cultivation of doctoral students. Combined with laboratory examples, he emphasized that we should emphasize the establishment and cultivation of basic quality, rigorous work style and honesty and moral character of scientific research of doctoral students. Finally, he pointed out that we should insist on the consciousness of ideal education and down-to-earth, practical ability and hard work on the issue of cultivating people, and we must emphasize the dedication spirit while respecting personal interests.

Then Wang Jintao, as a teacher representative, analyzed the problems and challenges in the construction of the academic atmosphere of the Department of Electronic Engineering, using communication and network, related experimental courses and the learning situation of the seventh grade as the starting point. It is recommended to lay emphasis on multi-level comprehensive training in the setting of course content. We should not only consolidate basic knowledge, but also understand the frontier of discipline development, cultivate students' ability to raise and solve problems independently, encourage students to do exploratory research, and strengthen practical ability training.

Wang Tengfei, as the student representative, gave a speech and first introduced how to carry out effective time planning to improve the efficiency and quality of student work. In the meantime, he reflected on the difficulties faced in the graduate work, including poor class cohesion, complex composition of Graduate Students, poor management communication between Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School and the headquarters, pointed out that under the current system and institution, the student work team is very mobile, frequent handover affects the quality and efficiency of work, and further increases work pressure, so he recommended to add long-term responsible teachers for the two groups. Finally, he also pointed out that compared with counselors, graduate assistants have a lower sense of work value, thus affecting their work enthusiasm to a certain extent.

Finally, Yang Huazhong made a speech themed on cultivation of doctoral students in the Department of Electronic Engineering. Combined with his own experience, he pointed out the contradiction between the cultivation goals of doctoral student and personal pursuit, and emphasized that we should focus on improving taste, rigorous style of study and pursuing innovation for cultivation of doctoral students.

On the morning of April 13, He Jianyu, deputy secretary of the School of Marxism, gave a keynote speech on "Transformation of social principal contradictions and the Party's Political Construction". He analyzed the transformation of the principal contradictions in Chinese society since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China from the views of education, medical care, and reform of state-owned enterprises, pointed out that we are in "a changing situation never emerging in the history before" and emphasized the important role of the party's political construction in the reorganization and redevelopment of Chinese society.

Then the full and heated group discussion was conducted on four topics, namely "Analysis of the Current Style of Study and Discussion of Problems", "How to Improve the Cultivation Quality of Doctoral Students", "Cultivation Objectives and Quality of the Master Students of Innovation and Entrepreneurship", and "Prevention of Public Opinion Incidents and Refinement of Councelor's Work" at the meeting. That afternoon, representatives of each group made a summary report on the discussion. The "Analysis of the Current Style of Study and Discussion of Problems" group analyzed the problems in cultivation of undergraduate and postgraduate students, and made recommendations such as strengthening the role of the class in the construction of the learning atmosphere and focusing on individualized teaching; The "How to Improve the Cultivation Quality of Doctoral Students" group discussed the various stages of cultivation of doctoral students and made recommendations such as focusing on professional guidance and strengthening academic ambition guidance; The "Cultivation Objectives and Quality of the Master Students of Innovation and Entrepreneurship" group discussed the innovation and entrepreneurship master's programs, and believed that the promotion of the project should be expanded, professional cognition should be improved, construction of practice base should be guaranteed and the employment should be guided, so as to cultivate high-quality innovative and entrepreneurial talents; The "Prevention of Public Opinion Incidents and Refinement of Councelor's Work" group focused on discussing how to deal with public opinion incidents in the new era, clarifying the reasons for the frequent occurrence of current network public opinion incidents, and believed that the construction of study style should be strengthened, the ideological education should be focused on, students' rigorous and realistic values should be shaped, the communication and feedback channels for students should be built, and information disclosure should be strengthened.

Later, Vice President Wang Xiqin gave a keynote speech. He emphasized that when the questions of study style are discussed, dwelling on the abstract and avoiding real issues isn't allowed, the questions of study style should be objectivized and guaranteed by establishing relevant systems. He pointed out that under the new situation, Tsinghua University should take the cultivation of innovative talents who shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation as its core value, establish correct value orientation, and strengthen the construction of study style.

Finally, Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary of the Department, summarized the seminar and pointed out that there are problems in undergraduates and doctoral students such as lack of hard work, lack of pursuit of excellence, and lack of critical and innovative thinking, and emphasized that the full play to the guiding role of ideological and political work in the construction of academic style should be given, the leading role of the party branch and party members in the construction of study style should be played, and all teachers should be called on to actively carry out the ideological and political education of the classroom.
