    1. Overview of Cross-disciplinary Talent Cultivation Program for Clinical Medicine

    In order to further promote the blending and cooperation between clinical medicine and science and engineering and literature, promote the formation and development of cross-disciplinary medicine and promote the training of cross-disciplinary talents in medicine, the Clinical Medical College, in conjunction with the engineering department, law department and fine arts department supported by the six centers of the Institute of Precision Medicine, carried out the cross-disciplinary talent cultivation in medicine, and established a training program for cross-disciplinary talents (with master's degree) in medicine which has the Tsinghua characteristics and cross-advantages.

    The main purpose of cross-disciplinary talent cultivation program for clinical medicine is to train the high-level application-oriented talents with good professional quality who can well master the basic theories and broad professional knowledge in the field of medicine or engineering, use engineering/medical theories, knowledge and technologies to carry out the disease-oriented cross-disciplinary medical research, carry out researches on key technologies related to clinical medicine, such as medical devices and equipment, medical diagnosis and treatment methods and auxiliary means, have the strong ability to solve cross-disciplinary problems of medical workers in this field, and undertake medical engineering technology or management work in cross-disciplinary medical field.

    2. Training method and degree awarding

    (1) Duration of course and training method: For cross-disciplinary talent cultivation program for clinical medicine, a full-time training method (which is totally released from work) is adopted with duration of 2-3 years. The training link mainly includes course learning (main degree course, cross-project course), professional practice and thesis. Registered permanent residence, archives and organizational relationships are transferred to Tsinghua University. Upon admission, the student register will be transferred to Medical College, Tsinghua University, under the management of cross-disciplinary talent cultivation program for clinical medicine, and the master's training course in the corresponding fields of Tsinghua University's "Cross-Disciplinary Talent Cultivation Program for Clinical Medicine" will be implemented.

    (2) Degree awarding: Upon the expiry of learning, after the students meet the scores requirements specified in the cultivation program (the main degree and cross-project requirements must be met at the same time) with qualified achievements, have finished the papers or other required training links, passed thesis defense organized by Tsinghua University, they will be awarded a master's degree certificate of Tsinghua University and a master's degree certificate in corresponding discipline upon review and approval by the Tsinghua University’s Academic Degrees Committee.

    (3) Accommodation: They will settle in Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, which will be implemented according to the unified accommodation regulations of Tsinghua University.

    (4) Rewards: It shall be executed according to relevant school regulations. A special scholarship of RMB 15,000 per person per year will be set up for the cross-disciplinary talent cultivation program for clinical medicine, which will be available to all students included in the program. In addition, the scholarship for good performance is also set up.

    (5) Allowances and subsidies:

    Meal allowance A: Paid according to the standard of RMB 600 per person per month.

    Transportation allowance B: Paid according to the standard of RMB 200 per person per month for the first academic year

    3. Brief Introduction of Six Medical Engineering Research Centers of Institute of Precision Medicine

    The Institute of Precision Medicine (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute") is jointly built by the Tsinghua University Affiliated Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital and the Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University, which implements the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Management Committee. Tsinghua University's famous experts in the field of medical science and engineering technology such as You Zheng, Sun Jiaguang, Wu Cheng, Zhang Bo, Luo Jianbin, Cheng Jing, Dong Jiahong, Lu Jianhua and Dai Qionghai, took the control over the general situation and development and, as the chief experts of the six major medical engineering research centers under the institute, carries out top-level design for the center under the leadership of the co-directors in the medicine and engineering field. Six Medical Engineering Research Centers: Clinical Big Data Center, Digital Medical and Medical Robot Center, ECMO Center, Intelligent Health Center, Medical Transformation Imaging Center and Wearable/Implantable Medical Equipment Center (Table 1). The new mechanism of dual-PI is implemented for research project management of the institute, and the project research is jointly carried out by medical and engineering PIs. Based on the CDR (Clinical Driven Research) concept, it aims to take the national health care demand as the development direction, focuses on the prevention and treatment of major diseases, overcomes and tackles the key common technical problems, gives full play to Tsinghua University's multi-disciplinary advantages and integrates high-quality clinical medical resources offered by Tsinghua University's Affiliated Hospital and major medical systems across the country, so as to improve the precision medical research level, and train compound medical talents and engineering talents with clinical transformation scientific background.
