    The Department of Electronic Engineering Held a Postgraduate Teaching Reform Discussion, Summary and Exchange Meeting

    In order to deeply study and implement the spirit of the National Postgraduate Education Conference, respond to the university's work deployment requirements for the postgraduate education reform discussion month, on the afternoon of September 18, the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University held a postgraduate teaching reform discussion, summary and exchange meeting at the Rohm Building. A total of over 10 people, including Wang Yu, Chair of the Department, Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary, Shen Yuan, Deputy Chair, Li Dongmei, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Hu Hua, Deputy Director of the Professional Degree Education Office of the Graduate School, deputy directors of teaching of all institutes (centers) of the Department of Electronic Engineering and student representatives of the Postgraduate Working Group, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Shen Yuan, Deputy Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering.

    Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary of the Department, firstly introduced the background and requirements of the meeting. He pointed out that under the current international and domestic situation, electronic information is a key industry for national development. The Department of Electronic Engineering shoulders the responsibility and mission to train important talents for the country and it should face the national strategic needs and combine the spirit of the National Postgraduate Education Conference to conduct in-depth research and discussion in aspects such as postgraduate curriculum reform, training model innovation, and ideological and political education to form effective measures and implement them firmly.

    Subsequently, deputy directors of teaching of all institutes (centers) reported the research and discussion results on the seven aspects of "strengthening the construction of the postgraduate curriculum system, promoting the undergraduate and postgraduate connection, increasing the intensity of international cooperation and exchanges in postgraduate training, further promoting professional degree postgraduate training, strengthening the construction of postgraduate supervisors, continuing to do a good job in the whole-process quality management after the revision of the standards for postgraduates to apply for degrees, and strengthening the ideological and political education of postgraduates". Wang Yue, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Information Detection, proposed suggestions on the incubation of new courses for postgraduates and proposed that in terms of the training of professional masters and engineering doctors, supervisors should be helped accurately understand the training plan through cases to better implement the corresponding training plan. Li Guolin, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Circuit, mainly introduced problems existing in curriculum construction and emphasized that the professional basic courses of postgraduates should be taken as a vital to further promote the construction of course contents and the compilation of textbooks. Zhang Wei, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Information handgrip Technology, pointed out that in the aspect of curriculum construction, the frontier progress of the major should be combined to optimize the course contents; while in the aspect of professional master training, the evaluation standards for the training quality should be further clarified. Zhong Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Communications put forwards many constructive suggestions in terms of training period, time arrangement, and responsibility clarification around the professional degree master training. Li Maokun, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Microwave & Antenna, gave some suggestions on the specific implementation methods of the undergraduate and postgraduate connection. Ma Hongbing, Deputy Director of Teaching of the Institute of Image Communication, mainly introduced the construction results of postgraduate courses, and proposed suggestions such as "strengthening the sorting of curriculum knowledge systems, highlighting curriculum characteristics, and learning foreign curriculum construction experience". Xu Shuzheng from the Experimental Teaching Center introduced 6 experimental courses as the pilot courses for the undergraduate and postgraduate connection.

    Student representative of the Postgraduate Working Group She Xiaoyang proposed many constructive opinions and measures for "improving the life quality of the postgraduate party organization, assisting the guidance on ideology and politics learning through ideology and politics of friends and fellows, and guiding the employment and career selection of postgraduates" around the three aspects of "ideological guidance, ideology and politics of friends and fellows and employment choices".

    Deputy Chair of the Department Shen Yuan introduced the training of professional masters of the innovation and entrepreneurship in the Department of Electronic Engineering. In the early stage of the training, problems such as "deviation of topics from the training goals, deviation of dissertation work from the industrial direction of the base, and imperfect base management" occurred. After 3 years of training exploration and reform, through measures such as strict control of dissertation proposals, and classes opened together with enterprises, the training quality of professional masters is improving continuously.

    Finally, Wang Yu, Chair of the Department, made a summary of the meeting. He said that education is the most fundamental task of universities. In the future, the Department of Electronic Engineering should take the sorting of the discipline tree as the starting point to promote the curriculum design, talent introduction and resource investment; at the same time, it should promote the training of professional degree masters in the form of multi-disciplinary integration; and he emphasized that doctoral students should have an international perspective and solve world-class key issues.

    The participating teachers and students deeply discussed various problems in the postgraduate teaching reform from all aspects and proposed constructive opinions. The Department of Electronic Engineering will continue to promote the implementation of specific measures for postgraduate teaching reform and improve the postgraduate training quality to train more high-level talents in the electronic information field.
