On the afternoon of September 24, 2020, the 15th Party Member Congress of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University of the Communist Party of China was held at the Lecture Hall on the third floor of the Rohm Electronic Engineering Hall. The congress listened to the work report of the 14th Party Committee of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, and elected members of the new Party Committee of the Department of Electronic Engineering. Liang Jing, a full-time organizer of the Organization Department of the Party Committee of the university, attended the congress which was presided over by Wang Jintao, Director of the Institute of Communications, and attended by 103 party member representatives of the Department of Electronic Engineering.

Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, firstly made a work report of the 14th Party Committee entitled "Gather Strength, Reform and Innovate - - Strive to Promote the Construction of World-class Electronic Engineering Disciplines". In the past three years, the 14th Party Committee of the Department of Electronic Engineering has taken the construction of world-class electronic engineering disciplines with efforts as its long-term development goal, taken the construction of a party organization with firm thinking, rigorous organization, and strong action as its focus, strengthened the comprehensive guidance of the party and highlighted political building and ideological building, continuously improved the quality of grassroots party construction and achieved new results in organizational building, implemented the requirements of comprehensive and strict party governance, and strengthened inspections and rectifications, implemented the fundamental mission of cultivating virtues and morality, and constructed a new system of students' ideological and political work, and continuously and deeply promoted the education and teaching reform, the personnel system reform of teachers, and scientific research system reform to use reform and innovation to promote discipline development and improve discipline quality. After three years of hard work, the party building of the Department of Electronic Engineering has achieved new results; the party and government have coordinated to comprehensively promote major reform measures such as personnel system and scientific research organizations, and new results have been achieved in all aspects of the Department.

For the work in the next stage, Jin Depeng proposed in the report that the reform and development should be insisted to promote the construction of first-class disciplines. He pointed out that the Department of Electronic Engineering should take the initiative to undertake the university's first-class university construction task, strive to take the lead to achieve the top electronic engineering discipline level in the world, which is the common pursuit of all faculties and students of the Department of Electronic Engineering and also the glorious mission of the Department of Electronic Engineering endowed by the university. He pointed out that the fundamental mission of cultivating virtues and morality should be persisted to train the socialist builders and successors; the overall scientific research concept of unified "indomitable spirit" should be persisted, and the "two battlefields" that meet the national strategic needs and lead the international academic frontier should be unified; the goal of building a first-class faculty team should be persisted and efforts should be made to improve the construction of a first-class school and department management system; the cultural inheritance and innovation should be persisted, and cultural construction should be used to promote the comprehensive development of the Department. At the same time, Jin Depeng emphasized that it is necessary to effectively strengthen the political core roles of the party committee, continuously improve the party building level and quality, insist on correct political direction, and institutionalize and standardize the party committee's political core role; further improve the party building quality and give full play to the role of the party organization and party members; promote the comprehensive and strict party governance, and promote the construction of first-class disciplines. It is necessary to gather strength, reform and innovate and strive to the goal of top electronic engineering disciplines, and make greater contributions to the national prosperity, rejuvenation and the progress of human civilization.

During the ballot counting, Wang Yu, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, reported the recent work ideas and progress of the Department of Electronic Engineering. Wang Yu firstly pointed out the mission of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University to build the world-class electronic information disciplines, train the most excellent electronic information technology talents, obtain the "normal form" scientific research results and form a "school". Based on this mission, in the past ten years, the Department of Electronic Engineering has achieved a series of results in curriculum system, personnel system, and scientific research system reform and construction. Looking to the future, under the circumstances of limited resources within the university and the increasingly fierce competition outside the university, targeted at how to achieve rapid development and promote influential results, Wang Yu proposed the basic ideas for the development of the Department of Electronic Engineering. He pointed out that it is necessary to further sort out the discipline tree, and further improve the quality of the curriculum system for postgraduates while building a high-quality undergraduate curriculum system to promote the construction of the undergraduate and postgraduate connection; guide and sort out the frontier of science development to achieve demand-driven, discipline-supported, and tractive development; and insist on the combination of the "indomitable spirit", face the national major needs while expanding the boundaries of human knowledge, promote the industrial development while solving word-class issues, pay attention to frontier cross-disciplines, and pay attention to join forces of scientific research and corporate society. For specific plans, Wang Yu reported relevant arrangements, including the establishment of a Talent Recruitment Committee to further optimize the talent introduction plan and expand the influence of talents; build a more complete support platform, and improve the ability to undertake scientific research projects through independent scientific research funds, large cooperation, and large-scale public platform support in the four stages of the scientific research commercialization, and establish a new model for the output and commercialization of scientific research results of colleges and universities, and so on.
