    The Grade 2020 Electronic Information Orientation Meeting of Tsinghua University Was Successfully Held

    On the morning of September 9, 2020, the Grade 2020 Electronic Information Orientation Meeting of Tsinghua University was held at Rohm Building. Mr. Wang Yu, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Chief Professor of electronic information, Mr. Jin Depeng, Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Deng Beixing, Deputy Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Shen Yuan, Deputy Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Ms. Li Dongmei, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Liu Yimin, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Li Yue, Leader of the Student Working Group of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Wang Guangzhi, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mr. Wang Han, Leader of the Student Working Group of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Mr. Yang Yi, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, Mr. Zhang Lei, Leader of the Student Working Group of the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, and the head teachers of the freshmen and all electronic information freshmen attended the meeting. Li Yue, Leader of the Student Working Group of the Department of Electronic Engineering presided over the meeting.

    Firstly, Mr. Wang Yu, Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering and Chief Professor of electronic information delivered a speech. Mr. Wang Yu started from several aspects such as life, city and space focused by the electronic information field to draw the outline of the electronic information field for new students and inspire their exploration enthusiasm of the electronic information field, and concluded with "see the historical orientation clearly, think about whom to learn for, explore the infinite life, think about how to study, accumulate strengthen and then rise abruptly, and think about what to learn", hoping that the freshmen can think continuously, make progress continuously and achieve academic success at Tsinghua University.

    Mr. Wang Guangzhi, Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, told students the close relationship between biomedicine and electronic information in his speech. At the same time, he mentioned that the electronic information is the first big category that Tsinghua achieves the connected training. He hoped that the students can develop extensively in the four years of the undergraduate study, and he also looked forward that the students can come the to Department of Biomedical Engineering often to walk and see to jointly explore the broad areas of life.

    Mr. Yang Yi, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, introduced the history of the establishment of the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics and the excellent contributions it has made to the country in his speech, and he explained the importance of the research on integrated circuits. "To be engaged in integrated circuits, innovation is a very important quality." Mr. Yang Yi hoped that the students can adhere to Tsinghua's spirit of "Actions Speak Louder than Words", innovate in criticism, make breakthroughs in practice, and become better selves at Tsinghua.

    Next, Mr. Niu Zhisheng, a teacher representative and professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering, made a speech. Mr. Niu Zhisheng said that 2020 is an extraordinary year. The challenge of the epidemic has enabled electronic information technology to go to thousands of households truly: home office, online teaching, online meeting, telemedicine, online courts and other technologies flourish together. Mr. Niu Zhisheng also used several scientific dogmas to compare students' study and life in the university, hoping that they can contact more people on campus, improve their capabilities, and make better choices. He quoted the famous saying of Lao Tzu "the things of this world come from Being, and Being (comes) from Non-being", hoping that students of the Department of Electronic Engineering can have "no fear" and enjoy "unlimited" wonderful in the university.
