Established in 1989 by Tsinghua University, the Top-Class Scholarship is the highest honor awarded to students who stand out in terms of all-round development, academic performance and tech innovation practice, and distinguished personal strengths. It is open to all students who meet the criteria. In the oral defense, students are encouraged to present their own stories of growth, guiding others to develop strong character, a broad academic foundation, innovative thinking, a global vision, and a sense of social responsibility for both all-round and personal development.

The scholarship is awarded to 10 undergraduates each year. From 2012 to 2021, nine students from the Department of Electronic Engineering have received this scholarship.
