I.Notice on the Open Day of the Institute of Microwave & Antenna, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University

The Institute of Microwave & Antenna, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University will hold the activity of the "2018 Open Day of the Institute of Microwave & Antenna, Tsinghua University" at the Rohm Electronic Engineering Hall, Tsinghua University on July 5, 2018. The activity will enhance the understanding of undergraduates and postgraduates in domestic colleges and universities on the Institute of Microwave & Antenna, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University through lectures, visits and teacher-student exchanges and other forms. At the same time, it plans to provide an opportunity for students who intend to apply for Grade 2019 test-free recommended doctoral students (including recommended for direct admission and not recommended for direct admission) to meet with the doctoral supervisors directly. The expected number of people accepted is 30 on the Open Day. Please take care of your own food and accommodation while lunch will be provided on the same day of the activity.

II.Activity introduction

1.Introduction to the Institute

Relying on the "National Key Lab of Microwave and Digital Communication Technology" and "National Lab of Tsinghua Information Science and Technology (in preparation)", the Institute of Microwave & Antenna was separated from the Institute of Communication and Microwave in 2010. It now has 3 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 associate researcher and 1 lecturer.

The Institute has undertaken many national key scientific research projects, including major projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 973 key basic research projects, 863 major projects, and major national R&D projects. In the past five years, the Institute has published more than 100 papers in leading industry magazines and conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Antenna and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, and applied for more than 10 national invention patents.

In scientific research environment and conditions, the Institute has a full set of test instruments such as network analyzer and various corresponding accessories covering 10 MHz-67 GHz, spectrum analyzer, digital frequency counter, noise factor meter, digital signal generator, dynamic signal analyzer, also has an anechoic chamber for antenna measurement with advanced performance, complete electromagnetic field and microwave system EDA software, integrated circuit and system simulation design software, and large-scale parallel computer, so that the development of disciplines can be well met and high-level experiment and research can be conducted.

Cored by the research content of electromagnetic field and microwave technology and facing the needs of emerging or booming industries such as wireless communication, aerospace, electronic countermeasure, and radio frequency chip, the Institute of Microwave & Antenna advocates the combination and promotion of scientific research and application practice and highlights the mutual driving of research of basic theories and development of the electromagnetic application system. It has conducted a large number of research and practical work in antenna and antenna array design, smart antenna system, numerical algorithm of electromagnetic field, integrated chip on-chip interconnection, radio wave propagation and achieved remarkable achievements.

III. Application qualifications

Undergraduate and postgraduate students in universities in the whole country (graduated in 2019), major requirements: Electronic Science and Technology, Electromagnetic Field and Microwave, and other related majors.

1.Requirements for undergraduate students:

The total score obtained during the first five semesters of the undergraduate course ranks the top in the same major of the same grade in the University (top 5% in terms of the comprehensive score).

With the strong interest in academic research, the undergraduate is characteristic of powerful innovation consciousness, innovation ability and professional ability.

Sound in body and mind, honest and trustworthy, rigorous and upright in learning, free from any punishment.

2.Requirements for postgraduate students:

The postgraduate student is engaged in scientific research systematically and deeply and makes outstanding academic research achievements.

With the strong interest in academic research, the undergraduate is characteristic of powerful innovation consciousness, innovation ability and professional ability.

Sound in body and mind, honest and trustworthy, rigorous and upright in learning, free from any punishment.

IV.Application materials

1.Required materials

1)One copy of "application form of the open day of the Institute of Microwave & Antenna, Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University" (undergraduate students and postgraduate students shall fill in their respective forms).

2)The undergraduate students are required to provide the transcripts of each subject for the first 5 semesters and the ranking of the overall evaluation scores for the first 5 semesters.

3)The postgraduate students shall provide supporting materials for the published academic papers and other academic achievements.

2.Additional materials (to be submitted based on their own conditions)

1)Photocopies of certificates on proficiency in English.

2)Other materials: Including photocopies of certificates of awards & honors (academic awards), etc.

V.Application form

Check the registration notice and download the Annex application form of the open day; Send scanned copies of the application form, transcripts and additional materials to: huang-f15@mails.tsinghua.edu.cn, and the subject of the email is "Name + Registration Application of the Open Day", and the deadline for application is before 24:00 on June 15, 2018.

Participants of the Open Day shall bring the written materials for material verification and review of the doctoral supervisors, which include: printed application form with signature and additional materials and so on (the undergraduate students should provide the transcripts of each subject for the first 5 semesters and the ranking of the overall evaluation scores for the first 5 semesters).
