The Institute of Communication and the Institute of Information System of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University will jointly hold the "Information and Communication Open Day" activity at the Rohm Electronic Engineering Hall, Tsinghua University on July 6, 2018. The activity will enhance the understanding of undergraduates and postgraduates in domestic colleges and universities on the information and communication research directions of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University through lectures and teacher-student exchanges and other forms. At the same time, it plans to provide an opportunity for students who intend to apply forGrade 2019 doctoral students through test exemption and recommendation (including direct doctoral candidates and general doctoral candidates)to meet with the doctoral supervisors directly. The official enrollment work will be organized by the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University at the beginning of the 2018 fall semester according to the unified arrangement of Tsinghua University.

The Institute of Communication and the Institute of Information System of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University are subordinate to the first-level discipline "Information and Communication Engineering", including second-level disciplines of "Communication and Information System" and "Information Network and Complex System". They are committed to training high-level professional talents with solid theoretical foundations, extensive knowledge and high degrees of innovation ability.
Presently, the Institute of Communication and the Institute of Information System have a total of 1 full-time academician, 17 professors (researchers), 22 associate professors (associate researchers), and 3 assistant professors (assistant researchers). About 5-10 postdoctoral fellows begin to work at the postdoctoral research station every year, and about 30-35 doctoral students are recruited every year.
Students who are interested in applying for doctoral candidates are welcome to participate in the open day activity to communicate with supervisors face to face.
I.Application qualification
Undergraduate and postgraduate students in universities in the whole country (graduated in 2019 are preferred), major requirements: relevant majors such as electronics, information engineering, automation, and computer.
Requirements for undergraduate students:
The total score of the undergraduate courses obtained ranks the top in the same major of the same grade in the university (top 5% in terms of the comprehensive score).
With the strong interest in academic research, the undergraduate is characteristic of powerful innovation consciousness, innovation ability and professional ability.
Sound in body and mind, honest and trustworthy, rigorous and upright in learning, free from any punishment.
Requirements for postgraduate students:
The postgraduate student is engaged in scientific research systematically and deeply and makes outstanding academic research achievements.
With the strong interest in academic research, the undergraduate is characteristic of powerful innovation consciousness, innovation ability and professional ability.
Sound in body and mind, honest and trustworthy, rigorous and upright in learning, free from any punishment.
II.Application materials
Required materials:
1.One copy of the application form of the "Information and Communication Open Day".
2.One copy of personal statement: introduce the professional background, research work that the applicant has been engaged in and the research direction that the applicant is interested in (within 1,000 words).
3.Score ranking, academic papers and other academic achievement certification materials.
Additional materials(to be submitted based on their own conditions):
4.Photocopies of certificates on proficiency in English.
5.Other materials: Including photocopies of certificates of awards & honors (academic awards), etc.

The subject of the email is "Name + University + Registration Application of the Open Day", and the deadline for application is before 24:00 on June 20, 2018.
Notice will be issued to those eligible for the Open Day before June 26 (in the form of email and telephone). Students who are not notified are not selected and no additional notice will be issued.
Participants of the Open Day shall bring the written materials for material verification and review of the doctoral supervisors, which include: application form, personal statement (signature), additional materials, etc.
