Mr. Yuan Yadong, Planning Manager of Intel, Visited DEE

On March 23, upon the invitation of the Experimental Teaching Center of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Mr. Yuan Yadong, University Planning Manager of the Programmable Solutions Group, Intel, visited the Experimental Teaching Center of the Department of Electronic Engineering.

Deputy Director Xu Shuzheng and Teacher Sun Yinan from the Experimental Teaching Center introduced the overall situation of the Center and the setting, teaching and practice contents and so on of the FPGA courses of the Department of Electronic Engineering to Yuan Yadong. Yuan Yadong introduced the development of Intel's FPGA technology and the strategic deployment of university plans. And they exchanged regarding the FPGA development, structure, tools, as well as the layout of Intel in fields such as AI, autonomous driving, next-generation mobile communications, and VR. In response to the relevant experimental courses offered by the Experimental Teaching Center, Yuan Yadong expressed that he will do his best to support and coordinate and he hoped that an in-depth cooperation with the Experimental Teaching Center can be conducted from aspects of hardware, software, tools, teaching content, lesson plans, etc.

During the professional teaching process, the Experimental Teaching Center has built an "integrated, multi-level and open" practical teaching system that covers experimental teaching, scientific research, discipline competition and engineering practice to enable students to fully develop their personalities while growing in all respects. The organic combination of knowledge, ability and literacy has established a diversified talent training model with characteristics of the times, thus training high-quality compound top innovative talents with international visions, innovative spirit and practical abilities.

About the Experimental Teaching Center and FPGA Joint Laboratory

The functions of the Experimental Teaching Center of the Department of Electronic Engineering include five parts: I. Undertake the basic experimental courses of the electronic information majors; II. Undertake the experimental courses of the electronic information majors; III. Carry out the organization, guidance, management, etc. of competition selection, training and competitions of the electronic information disciplines; IV. Carry out internship and practice activities based on the practice base of the Center to strengthen the professional knowledge training; V. Make use of resources such as innovative talent training bases and corporate clubs to carry out scientific research training and innovation and entrepreneurship activities to enrich the connotation of the second classroom.

The Experimental Teaching Center of the Department of Electronic Engineering established an FPGA Joint Laboratory with Altera in 2009, and Intel acquired Altera in 2015.
