Electronic information science and technology affects the overall level of a country's scientific and technological development. Building a world-class electronic engineering discipline and cultivating international top electronic information talents is the obligatory social mission of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University. To support the discipline construction and talent cultivation of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, we initiate the establishment of Wang Zuoying Teaching and Learning Encouraging Foundation.

With efforts of people of previous generations in Electronics of Tsinghua University represented by professor Wang Zuoying, the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University has established two national key first-level disciplines "Electronic Science and Technology" and "Information and Communication Engineering", covering physical electronics and optoelectronics, circuits and systems, electromagnetic field and microwave technology, communication and information system, signal and information processing, complex systems and networks and other research fields; A complete cultivation system for Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Engineering has been built, and batches of outstanding talents have been transported to the society; The cultural tradition of unity, pragmatism, academic freedom, and pursuit of excellence has been formed. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University has targeted building a world-class electronic engineering discipline and cultivating international top electronic information talents after going through the historical stage of catching up with and following international first-class universities.

To better inherit professor Wang Zuoying's spirit of self-conduct and learning, and promote the development of the Department of Electronic Engineering in discipline construction and talent cultivation, we initiate the establishment of Wang Zuoying Teaching and Learning Encouraging Foundation to promote all alumni of Tsinghua University and people from all walks of life caring the cultivation of electronic information talents in China to support our development through fund donations. The Foundation will accept the supervision and management of Tsinghua University Education Foundation and all donors, and all donations will be used for discipline construction and talent cultivation.
